Attempting the Computer Hacking Forensic Investigator (CHFI) Exam:

To be eligible to challenge the EC-Council CHFI certification examination, the candidate has two options:

OPTION 1:  Attempt the exam after taking an official EC-Council course

If a candidate has completed an official EC-Council course either at an Academia Partner approved institution, Accredited Training Center (ATC), or via the iClass platform, the candidate is eligible to challenge the relevant EC-Council exam without going through the Exam Eligibility application process and can proceed to purchase a discounted exam voucher.

OPTION 2:  Attempt the exam without taking an official EC-Council course

In order to be considered for the EC-Council CHFI exam without participating in an official course either at an Academia Partner approved institution, Accredited Training Center (ATC), or via the iClass platform, candidates must have at least 2 years of work experience in the Information Security domain. If a candidate has the required work experience, they can submit an Exam Eligibility Application along with a $100.00 USD non-refundable fee for processing. Upon approval, candidates may purchase an exam voucher at the list rate.

Passing Score:

In order to maintain the high integrity of our certification exams, EC-Council Exams are provided in multiple forms (I.e. different question banks). Each form is carefully analyzed through beta testing with an appropriate sample group under the purview of a committee of subject matter experts that ensure that each of our exams not only has academic rigor but also has real world applicability. We also have a process to determine the difficulty rating of each question. The individual rating then contributes to an overall cut score for each exam form. To ensure each form has equal assessment standards, cut scores are set on a “per exam form” basis. Depending on which exam form is challenged, cut scores can range from 60% to 85%.
